Step into an unforgettable evening that celebrates the vibrant spirit, rich heritage, and boundless creativity of Hungary’s greatest composers and folk traditions.
The concert begins with Ferenc Erkel’s Himnusz, the Hungarian National Anthem, a solemn and stirring tribute that has united generations of Hungarians with its timeless melody and profound sense of national pride.
From there, the program bursts into the colorful world of Hungarian folk music with selections by Béla Bartók, one of Hungary’s most beloved and influential composers. Bartók’s Dances of Transylvania bring to life the raw energy and haunting beauty of traditional village dances. The rustic sounds continue with “Dudások” (Bagpipes) arranged by Gábor Darvas, followed by the playful and evocative “Medvetánc” (Bear Dance) — a vivid musical depiction of folk customs and celebrations.
